Enlightened Science & the Search for Consciousness
David Lorimer in conversation with Tom Wyatt
Sunday 21st December
(Doors open 1.30)
We are delighted to welcome David Lorimer, one of the most respected and enduring voices working at the interface of science, spirituality, and human meaning, for a wide-ranging conversation with Tim Wyatt.
David is a long-standing and influential member of the Scientific & Medical Network, where for more than five decades he has been closely involved in efforts to broaden scientific inquiry beyond narrow materialist assumptions. He currently serves as Programme Director and Global Ambassador for the Galileo Commission, an international initiative exploring more expansive, humane, and consciousness-inclusive frameworks for understanding reality.
Editor of Paradigm Explorer magazine and the author or editor of over a dozen books, David’s work consistently seeks to build thoughtful bridges between disciplines – science and spirituality, philosophy and lived experience, empirical inquiry and inner knowing. Throughout his career, he has been a tireless advocate for dialogue, discernment, and a deeper sense of purpose in human affairs.
In this conversation, David and Tim will explore:
- The original vision and continuing mission of the Scientific & Medical Network
- The aims and implications of the Galileo Commission for science and society
- Why materialist models of reality are increasingly being questioned
- The place of consciousness in any adequate understanding of the cosmos
- How renewed dialogue between science and spirituality may help address today’s global crises of meaning
As with all Leeds Theosophical Society gatherings, the afternoon promises to be reflective, humane, and quietly illuminating – a meeting of minds that values depth over certainty, and inquiry over dogma.
